Hi, I’m Dayana. I help clarify sustainability for climate action, regeneration & tourism.

Sustainable Tourism Strategist · Researcher · Advocate

  • From an early age, I knew I wanted to be a voice for nature, animals, and our planet. Growing up in Australia with Chilean roots, I loved beaches, volcanoes, and the geology of our planet. After high school, I earned a degree in Geosciences and am proud to be a first-generation student. At the time, there were plenty of jobs in Western Australia in mining, which I didn't want to do, so I brought my love of nature and conservation and built a career in travel. While I loved connecting with different cultures, I often felt uneasy knowing flying harmed the environment.

In my early twenties, I became vegetarian and, years later, would become vegan. However, after my two children's birth, I decided to make a change to align my values and beliefs with my travel business. In 2017, I launched a travel company called The Sustainable Traveller, focused on sustainability, low-emissions travel, and community connections. A first of its kind and this journey led me to become a sustainable tourism consultant. After completing my Master's in Sustainability, I now bring a research lens to the strategies I create to reduce emissions, create new habits and align with ecological economics thinking.

Currently, I am researching how Indigenous knowledge, climate adaptation, and regenerative tourism can shape the future of travel. Guided by my experiences as a mother, hiker, photographer, and proud Chilean, I want to advocate for social and climate justice while placing nature at the core of my efforts.

  • As my love for nature began early, so did my thinking of ways to advocate for Mother Nature. I’ve been deeply inspired by the bold actions of Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard, the conservation leadership of Kris Tompkins, and the enduring wisdom of Dr. Jane Goodall. Today, I’m passionate about sharing ecological thinking and sustainability insights with clients across Australia and globally — helping them reconnect and appreciate nature at the core of meaningful change. Which is why I stand for:

    Sustainability without greenwashing

    Community and Indigenous leadership

Travel and Tourism for climate action

Connecting deeply with nature to inspire change

Deep research, clear strategy, and actionable tools

Beyond the boardroom and research papers, I am a strong advocate for the transformative power of connecting with nature. I believe that spending time immersed in natural environments creates deep respectful connection for Mother Earth of awe and wander and inspires meaningful climate stewardship in both travellers and industry leaders.

I founded this consultancy to help reshape an industry I’ve loved for a lifetime — not just to keep travel alive, but to ensure nature regenerates for generations to come.

  • I invite you to join me and share in my vision where travel contributes to the regeneration of places, not their depletion.

A future where travellers are conscious of their footprints — and their handprints. Where local communities are empowered, ecosystems are protected, and cultural heritage is celebrated and preserved. Where decision-making in tourism is guided by data, ethics, and deep respect for people and planet.

This future isn’t far off — it just needs more of us working towards it. Together, we can reimagine the role of tourism in a changing world.

Whether you're a travel brand looking to lead with purpose, a tourism board seeking to future-proof your strategy, or someone simply curious about how to travel more responsibly — you’re part of this transformation.

Let’s create systems that value regeneration over extraction, connection over consumption, and long-term vision over short-term gain.

Because sustainable travel isn't a trend, it's a responsibility—and an opportunity. Tourism needs to tell a New Sustainability Story, and I'm here to share it.

“I believe in a future shaped by adaptation and transformation — where nature is at the heart of everything we do.”
